I went to the plastic surgeon today, He told me that I cant have radiation after the reconstruction surgery, so that rules out what I wanted to do! I have to have a mastectomy than 2-3weeks later radiation than 1 year after the radiation treatments end, I can have the reconstruction surgery which includes having two surgeries. Fun! Fun! Fun! The plastic surgeon said that before the reconstruction they take about 6 table spoons of fat out of my stomache and insert it into the breast. The fat helps the breast to heal better from all the radiation.
On the bright side,I didnt have to take my clothes off and the plastic surgeon was super nice!!!

Deb,I am really sorry that your plans have changed but I'm glad that you like your doctor. I love you so much that I'd like to offer some of my fat...in fact I'd like to donate to all of his patients. God knows I have enough to go around. xo diane

ReplyDeleteSorry that you cant get everything done at once. Most important that you are getting it done right with a team you are comfortable with.
Do you have any idea about when you might have the mastectomy.
